Q-10 is an enzyme found in all oxygen-breathing cells. Our body (unlike vitamins) can synthesise this substance. But like so many things, Q-10 levels begin to decline over time.
The human body can produce optimal amounts of Q-10 until about the age of 30, after which it is worth supplementing continuously. Don't let the passage of time affect your body's supply of Q10. Look for Vitaking 100 mg 60 grain Q10 in health food stores and pharmacies!
In every breathing animal and plant cell...
Coenzyme Q-10 (also known as CoQ10, Q10, Vitamin-Q10, ubiquinone) is a substance that all living organisms produce in varying amounts. Coenzyme is necessary for the function of an enzyme. The Q and 10 in its name refer to its chemical composition.
Around 60 years ago, researchers at the University of Wisconsin discovered something new while studying a bovine heart. They examined this substance and found it to be quinone - a brilliantly coloured organic substance found in all oxygen-breathing living plant and animal cells.
A little name explanation
The name quinone refers to the colourful, shimmering compounds found in all oxygen-breathing cells. The name ubiquinone is made up of the prefix ubi- "everywhere" and quinone. Ubiquinone is a coenzyme. A coenzyme is a compound attached to an enzyme by one end. And an enzyme is a chain of amino acids that participates in a chemical reaction without itself being transformed or changed in the process. A coenzyme complements the enzyme - without it, the reaction would not take place.
Q-10 is found in almost all parts of the body. The largest amounts are found in the heart, kidneys, liver and adrenal glands.
Its production decreases with age. It is therefore worth replenishing.
Q-10 coenzyme supplementation
It is recommended to supplement daily from the age of 25-30 years.
It is best utilized when some fat is included in the diet with which it is consumed.
Vitaking Q-10 gel capsules contain 100 mg of the active ingredient per capsule.
