January is a time of big changes. Many people vow to change their lifestyle. However, it’s easy to forget that losing weight and changing the old, comfortable habits is not an easy process and by March or April you will notice that you run out of  motivation.

It’s not a lack of willpower or discipline, it’s simply a lack of attitue. Weight loss is not a walk in the park, it’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon, it works when it’s balanced, sustainable and liveable. It’s a long, complex process that requires patience.

How to get started?

In general, everybody knows exactly what they want, and when they want it. (For example, I want to wear my old jeans in April or the scale should show 59 kg in June, ect.) These are nice and great goals, but let’s look at the why! A number isn’t going to give you deep motivation to choose a nutrient-dense breakfast instead of a sweet pastry. It’s worthy going deeper to find out the detailes of your motivation. For example I want to be 59 kg, because I want to be more energetic and fit. These detailes will support you in the long run. If you compare your current lifestyle with your desiered goal and your reasons, you can see that this is more complex than blindly following a diet for few monts an torturing yourself.

CALORIE DEFICIT

Weight loss is based on simple mathematics. Our body obtain energy from the food we eat, which it uses for vital functions, movement, physiological processes, ect. The unit of energy in a food is measured in calories. In case of a sustained energy surplus – you eat more food than your daily energy needs – your weight will increase. The opposite is also true. If you consistently eat less energy, your body will use up its reserves and your weight will drop. So to lose weight effectively, you need to be in a calorie deficit. Of course, this is not the same as fasting. The aim is to develop a balanced, sustainable diet, combined with regular exercise.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

A sedentary lifestyle has a very negative impact on the body. Sedentary work and a general lack of exercise can lead to many diseases: orthopaedic probelms, joint deterioration, varicose veins, but in the long term, it can also lead to more serious problems such as cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders, gastrointestinal diseases, musculoskeletal and spinal disorders. and spinal disorders. So regular exercise and an active lifestyle are not only important for weight loss.

WEIGHT LOSS SUPPORT

The key to a sustainable weight loss is a balanced diet, an active lifestyle and patience. There is no substitute for this, but fortunately there are many products available today, that can support this process.

PROTEIN

Protein provides the body with valuable amino acids, helps to maintain and build muscle tissue and supports the body’s processes. Among its many functions, it also aids fat loss. It has a high satiating value, increasing satiety and helping to maintain a calorie deficit.

L-CARNITIN

L-carnitine is an amino acid derivative that helps the body convert fat into energy more easily and quickly during exercise. This is by definition a slow process, as the body only accesses fat stores when absolutely necessary. L-carnitine helps this to happen and makes it more efficient, thereby increasing exercise performance (because you will have more energy) and aiding recovery. So, in addition to its many health benefits, it can be a useful tool for lifestyle change.

BCAA

The branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) are a group of three essential amino acids. Essential amino acids cannot be produced by the body and must be obtained from external sources. BCAAs help to increase muscle mass, improve endurance, aid recovery, inhibit muscle breakdown and support weight loss by helping to regulate insulin levels and by participating in several digestive processes.

GREEN TEA EXTRACT

The caffeine in green tea has a thermogenic effect. This means that it helps to release heat, thereby increasing the amount of calories burned per day. In addition, the antioxidants, catechins and polyphenols it contains also enhance the effects of caffeine and support weight loss.
