Makzyme-Pro™ enzyme blend with beneficial bacterial strains combined with the active ingredients papain and bromelain!

Our newest dietary supplement formulation contains the unique Makzyme-Pro™ enzyme blend, which gently supports the digestive boost and can alleviate symptoms caused by food intolerance and poor nutrition. Our proprietary enzyme blend is a balanced combination of powerful enzymes and beneficial bacteria such as protease, lactase, lipase, alpha-galactosidase and lactobacillus, but not without the well-known active ingredients papain and bromelain!

What does Makzyme-Pro™ enzyme blend offer?

Containing a combination of beneficial bacteria and enzymes, the Makzyme-Pro blend can be incorporated into any diet when you need to relieve the stress on your digestive system. The beneficial bacteria are designed to maximise the number of good bacteria in the digestive tract, while the special enzymes actively break down food so that it can be used by the body to produce energy.

What enzymes does the product contain?

Makzyme-Pro™ contains a range of actual enzymes that actively contribute to the body's ability to break down food into processable nutrients.

These enzymes include:

  • Fungal protease: protease enzymes isolated from Aspergillus oryzae, a filamentous fungus used for fermentation, which break down proteins into individual amino acids. Protease enzymes aid digestion. Preparations that support protease enzymes are specifically recommended after eating heavy foods or as we age, as the ability to produce protein-degrading enzymes in our bodies declines.
  • Fungal lipase: lipase enzymes isolated from various fungi are involved in the breakdown of fats.
  • Fungal lactase: enzymes isolated from various fungi that break down lactose by hydrolysis to glucose or galactose.
  • Alpha galactosidase: an enzyme that can break down indigestible carbohydrates into galactose and sucrose in the small intestine.
  • Bromelain: an active substance in pineapple that is involved in the breakdown of proteins. It contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system and supports our natural defences.
  • Papain: a protease enzyme from papaya that is involved in the breakdown of proteins. It contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system and supports our natural defences.

What beneficial bacteria are contained in the capsules?

  • Lactobacillus acidophilus: occurs naturally in the body and is also found in many fermented foods and dairy products. It improves the microbiome, helps maintain digestive harmony and normal digestion.
  • Lactobacillus casei: complements L. acidophilus, supports the development of a beneficial microbiome, has a beneficial effect on gut flora, supports balanced gastro-intestinal harmony
  • Lactobacillus plantarum: a group of microorganisms naturally present in the gut, helps maintain digestive health and balance of the gut flora.

What are enzymes and what can cause enzyme deficiency?

Enzymes are proteins produced by the body to break down the food we eat into digestible, usable nutrients in the digestive tract. They help break down proteins, carbohydrates and fats so that our body can use as much energy as possible from the food we eat. It can be said that normal enzyme production is essential to support digestion and metabolism, and the proper absorption of food.

It's important to know that we need different enzymes to break down different types of food, as you can see from the list above. A lack of enzymes can cause various digestive symptoms, as the breakdown does not work perfectly. So even if we eat healthily, our body cannot break down and use the valuable nutrients we take in from food, so despite our best efforts, the basic nutrient deficiencies may persist.

The lack of natural enzymes can in some cases be replaced by digestive enzymes, which perform a similar function in the breakdown process.

The main types of digestive enzymes are:

Lipase: responsible for the breakdown of fats

Protease: breaks down proteins into amino acids

Lactase: digestive enzyme also found in the small intestine of humans, important for digesting lactose, also known as milk sugar

Alpha-galactosidase: responsible for breaking down carbohydrates

Natural sources of digestive enzymes, which can be consumed to support the digestive system:

  • avocados
  • bananas
  • papaya
  • pineapple
  • ginger
  • kefir
  • sauerkraut
  • kiwi
  • mango

How and why does a digestive enzyme deficiency develop in our body?

Most digestive enzymes are produced in the pancreas. Our pancreas is responsible for 90% of exocrine functions, such as the production of ions and enzymes needed for digestion, and 10% of endocrine functions, such as the production of hormones that regulate metabolism (e.g. insulin).

If our pancreas is not working properly, food passes undigested from the small intestine into the large intestine, which is why we can experience unpleasant lower abdominal problems.

Although digestive enzymes can be replaced with supplements, it is worthwhile to follow a healthy lifestyle to avoid these problems. Enzyme deficiencies can be hereditary, but are most often caused by lifestyle problems such as:
  • Eating irregularly
  • Regular overeating
  • Certain medications
  • Diets low in fat, which can lead to gallstones
  • Overweight
  • Alcoholism
  • One-sided diet
  • Toxin build-up in the body
