FORMULATED WITH XYLITOL

Xylitol is a natural sweetener that does not cause tooth decay because it is not fermented by bacteria in the oral cavity, so it does not form acids that damage tooth enamel.

TOOTHPASTE WITHOUT FLUORIDE, SLS, SLES, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, PARABENS AND ARTIFICIAL COLOURS

Aloe Fresh® Sensitive toothpaste is free from substances such as sodium lauryl sulphate which are particularly well absorbed by the delicate oral mucosa, irritating the surface. It does not contain saccharin, an ingredient used as an artificial sweetener in toothpastes.

Sensitive toothpaste is based on the fresh, pure juice of Aloe Vera, to which a number of botanical ingredients have been added, such as brown algae extract, birch extract, common burdock extract, krameria triandra (rhatany) extract, bloodroot extract, bitter orange extract, xylitol, rebaudioside A (from stevia leaf).

LET'S LOOK AT WHAT IS BEHIND TOOTH SENSITIVITY?

Tooth sensitivity is the pain you may feel in one or more teeth. Tooth sensitivity can be caused by eating hot or cold food, drinking cold drinks, eating sweets or even sucking in cold air from the mouth. When we talk about tooth sensitivity, we are not talking about severe pain caused by tooth decay, fractures or infections.

WHAT CAN CAUSE TOOTH SENSITIVITY?

The causes of sensitivity are:

  • Heavy brushing: brushing with a hard-bristled toothbrush, or the pressure of too much brushing, can wear away tooth enamel over time and the layer of tooth enamel underneath, called the dentin, already contains nerves that are stimulated by hot and cold and sweets.
  • Gingival recession: where the gum level recedes, exposing the root of the tooth the root, however, lacks a protective layer of enamel and may be sensitive to temperature changes. Gum recession is usually caused by hard brushing or gum disease.
  • Enrootitis: This is an advanced stage of gum disease that starts with inflammation of the gums, followed by deterioration of the supporting tissue around the tooth (including bone tissue) the gums therefore adhere less to the tooth, leaving the root free.
  • Fracture: a cracked tooth can expose the inner layers (dentin) or root, causing sensitivity.
  • Acidic foods: excessive consumption of foods high in acid can wear away tooth enamel over time. Acidic foods include soft drinks, energy drinks, fruit juices, lemon fruit or iced tea.
  • Tooth grinding: Tooth grinding can strain tooth enamel and wear it down over time, exposing the dentin or root underneath, or even break the tooth, both of which cause sensitivity.

HOW TO PREVENT TOOTH SENSITIVITY?

BRUSH AND FLOSS REGULARLY:
Plaque, tooth decay and gum disease all cause sensitive teeth. Although genetics play a role to some extent, brushing and flossing properly helps to minimise the risks.

DON'T BRUSH TOO HARD:
Brushing too vigorously can damage teeth and make them more sensitive. Brush gently and use a soft toothbrush.

AVOID GRINDING YOUR TEETH:
Grinding your teeth can wear away the protective layers of your teeth. People who grind their teeth often have sensitive and cracked teeth, which may require dental intervention.

REDUCE THE CONSUMPTION OF ACIDIC FOODS:
Acidic foods such as lemon, tomato sauce can cause tooth sensitivity. These foods put a strain on tooth enamel, so it is best not to overdo it.
