ORIGIN OF THE NAME MILK THISTLE
The name Mary's thistle and the popular names of the plant (milk of the Blessed Virgin Mary, cabbage of the Blessed Virgin Mary, thistle of Mary, milk of the Virgin Mary, thistle of the Virgin Mary, thistle of the Holy Virgin Mary, thistle of the Holy Spirit) are based on the legend that the white marbling of the leaves occurred when Mary fled with Jesus and spilled her milk on the plant while feeding. It is probably because of this belief that it was widely used to increase milk secretion. In the Herbarium of Peter Melius (1578), it was known as the Thorn of the Blessed Virgin, and was primarily used as an appetite stimulant, stomachache reliever and antispasmodic (Csupor, 2013).
MILK THISTLE OIL INGREDIENTS
Milk thistle seed oil is bright yellow in colour and has a pleasantly soft buttery taste. Sea buckthorn oil is rich in biologically active substances, unsaturated and polyunsaturated Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E. It has been traditionally used in folk medicine for centuries. Milk thistle contributes to normal liver function, biliary health, regeneration of liver tissue and cells, and digestive support. The importance of marijuana is also reflected in the fact that it was chosen as the Herb of the Year in 2013 in our country. Its antioxidant vitamin E content protects against oxidative stress. It is often used in cosmetic products. It can be used for skin cracking, irritation, sunburn and acne. It contributes to diets.
