Because it makes a difference what kind of magnesium you consume!
Most of the magnesium supplements that fill the shelves of supermarkets are inorganic magnesium oxide and organic magnesium citrate, as these are the two cheapest ingredients. The best bioavailability, however, has been proven to be the magnesium bisglycinate form.
Different forms of magnesium:
Many different forms of the mineral have been used and tested for mineral replacement, these can be more or less grouped into four distinct categories:
- Inorganic insoluble salts: Oxides (MgO), Carbonates (McCO3), Hydroxides (Mg(OH)2)
- Inorganic soluble salts: Chlorides (MgCl2), Sulphates (MgSO4)
- Organic soluble salts: Citrates (Mg-citrate), Lactates (Mg-lactate), Gluconates
- Organosoluble complexes: Bisglycinates (Mg-bisglycinate, Zinc histidine)
Some people still believe that higher doses of magnesium are necessarily more effective than lower doses, but the bioavailability of magnesium forms varies considerably, with most being only 11-30% utilized. The most important criterion for maximising magnesium bioavailability is to maximise the bioavailability of magnesium:
THE FORM OF MAGNESIUM - When magnesium is chelated with glycine amino acid it can be absorbed directly by intestinal cells. Therefore, magnesium bisglycinate has been shown to be the form of magnesium with the highest bioavailability, coupled with significantly more physiological properties.
SIZE OF MAGNESIUM - The chelated magnesium component should be relatively small (minimum
OUR PRODUCT IS A LOW MOLECULATE, CHELATED BISGLICINATE MAGNESIUM BENEFIT MATERIAL, WITH A CERTIFIED DALTON SIZE OF 172.3, WHICH PROVIDES HIGH BIOHASINOSILIZATION. The smaller Dalton size of magnesium is associated with higher bioavailability, actually entering the bloodstream, so its bioavailability can more effectively achieve its intended health benefits.
Interesting fact: For chelation of magnesium, the smallest amino acid glycine should be used because it produces the smallest possible molecular weight mineral chelates, which is very important for a high absorption potential. It also has an excellent stability constant. It allows the chelate to remain intact in the pH range of the gastrointestinal tract, but it is also not too strong, so it is possible to release magnesium efficiently to biological tissues in need.
In addition, the amino acid glycine used in chelation provides other nutritional benefits as one of the 22 amino acids that build the structures of our bodies. Glycine has many important metabolic functions in the human body.
Published clinical research on the effects of magnesium on the human body shows that 70% of Western people do not have enough magnesium. This is because magnesium is the fourth most abundant cation in the body and is involved in more than 300 enzymatic processes.
Recently, magnesium deficiency has been identified as the cause of many clinical diseases:
- Several data show that magnesium deficiency due to poor diet and/or metabolic disorders is the link between various cardiovascular risk factors, cardiac arrhythmias, acute myocardial infarction and vascular stenosis.
- Low plasma magnesium levels cause dysfunction of the lining of blood vessels, which is the first step in the formation of deposits that will be responsible for blood vessel calcification and heart problems years later. Oral magnesium therapy has been shown to improve the function of the inner lining of blood vessels, especially in coronary artery disease.
- Magnesium deficiency is of clinical importance in combination with stress because it causes cardiac arrhythmias, hemodynamic changes and ischemic changes in the heart.
- Magnesium deficiency causes insulin resistance leading to hyperinsulinemia, which causes hypertension, diabetes and hyperlipidemia. Magnesium plays a key role in insulin-mediated glucose absorption and blood vessel tone.
- Magnesium is responsible for the flow of sodium and potassium across the membrane. Patients with intractable hypokalaemia (low potassium) often do not respond to potassium supplementation until the magnesium deficiency is corrected. In severe potassium deficiency, magnesium deficiency should also be investigated.
- Magnesium deficiency upsets the Na-Mg process, resulting in higher intracellular sodium and higher blood pressure.
- Relatively low levels of magnesium upset the calcium and magnesium balance, so smooth muscle tone of the blood vessels increases and blood pressure rises.
