The vegan athlete: yes, it exists!
Do you want a lean body while living on a meat-free diet? With the right care, it is possible! Many people are afraid that without animal-based food, they won't be able to build their bodies, so all that training will be wasted. The success of many famous athletes proves them wrong. You can still be muscular as a vegan, even if you've gone from being a carnivore to a herbivore in one fell swoop. The key is quality protein supplementation.
Rice and peas are the basics
Plant-based foods, unlike animal-based foods, are not complete sources of protein: that is, they don't contain all the essential amino acids our bodies need. Fortunately, however, we can obtain complete proteins by so-called complementation (combining different protein sources of plant origin). That's what we do in Vegan Protein by combining two protein sources that complement each other perfectly: we add rice protein, which is low in lysine but high in sulphur-containing amino acids (e.g. cysteine and methionine), to pea protein, which is low in sulphur-containing amino acids but high in lysine. This excellent base is then supplemented with additional extras. The drink powder also contains oat flour and glucomannan powder, also known as devil's tongue extract. The latter is a water-soluble fibre and a real superfood, not for nothing it is also a popular dietary supplement.
+ 3 types of superfoods
- Quinoa flour → Quinoa, a hit in health food, was revered by the ancient Incas as the mother of all grains.
- Acai berry powder → The acai berry is an exotic ingredient native to the Amazonian rainforest.
- Goji berry powder → Also known as wolfberry, this sour, bright red fruit, which tastes like a mixture of cherries and blackberries, has been consumed in China for thousands of years.
One product, many uses
The unflavoured version of Vegan Protein is a great everyday companion if you like to experiment in the kitchen, for example by thickening soups and stews or mixing it into your favourite vegan yoghurt or vegetable drink.
You can even think of it as an easy-to-make, wake-up meal: combine it with 5g of Fiber Mix and you'll get more than just protein, you'll get fibre and it's a breeze to make with just a shaker!
But, if you just want a neutral tasting vegan protein shake, feel free to drink it diluted with water! And if you want to decide what flavour protein shake to reward yourself with after a workout, choose one of our Zero Drops flavour drops!
