Whether K1 or K2 is consumed, the utilized part is converted to K2 MK-4 at the same rate. For our tissues, only K1 and K2 MK-4 are useful, and each has its own ideal ratio of vitamin K (MK-4/K1). Since K2 cannot be converted to K1, excessive doses of K2 can upset the ratio, while K1 cannot.
