There are two forms of Q10, reduced (ubiquinol) and unreduced (ubiquinone). Naturally, only the unreduced form can be produced (ideally by plant fermentation), but both forms are present in our bodies and in food, and we need both. The reduced form is very sensitive to heat, acid and light, and is oxidised by stomach acid. Thus, only the unreduced form is available orally. However, our body converts this to the reduced form as needed, so although we only have access to the oxidised form, we have roughly the same amount of ubiquinol and ubiquinone circulating in our body. Our antioxidant system is responsible for the reduction, and if we support it even just with a proper diet and e.g. a little vitamin C, it is enough to do this perfectly, without the need to take the reduced form, which would be useless orally.
Q10 is a crystalline substance, which is not soluble in aqueous media, but is also only warm soluble in oily media, and is difficult to keep in solution, while its absorption is poor if it is not crystalline. To overcome this problem, we have developed a simple solution of Q10, which is the highest possible concentration and which can keep Q10 in a crystal-free, dissolved state over a wide temperature range. We dissolved it in MCT oil from palm kernel from sustainable farms to ensure that absorption is not hindered in case of insufficient egg production. To ensure stability, and also to support the proper reduction of Q10 within the body, we have added our unique antioxidant system, which consists of, among others, a supercritical extraction of Greek sage leaf, tocopherols and tocotrienols from red palm fruit and vegetable oils.
Based on clinical studies, the effects of coenzyme Q10 may include:
- Improved circulation, blood flow, endothelial function, the status of antioxidant-producing enzymes, and even erectile function in studies...
- In several studies, it has improved exercise performance, VO2max (VO2 max is the maximum amount of oxygen that can be taken up and transported by the body), sperm quality and motility, and overall quality of life.
- It has been shown to significantly reduce lipid peroxidation, symptoms of fibromyalgia, Prader Willi syndrome and Peyrone's disease in studies.
- In trials, oral Q10 slightly reduced skin damage from UV radiation, fatigue, Parkinson's disease symptoms, muscle damage, risk of pre-eclampsia and blood pressure.
Consumption suggestion:
5 ml (2 teaspoons) per day in one or more doses is recommended. Best taken with or without meals. It is advisable to consume only 1 teaspoonful in the first few days, as MCT oil may initially cause mild diarrhoea in those sensitive to it (this is very rare below 10 ml per day). Over time this will subside and the dose can be increased.
