Marine collagen and marine elastin

Collagen is the body's defining protein and the structural builder of hair, skin, nails, gums, cartilage, bones, muscles, blood vessels and all connective tissues. This gelatinous protein is also found in the eye, for example, and ensures the compactness of the eye. Collagen makes up 75% of our skin. 30% of the total protein mass is collagen.

Marine collagen is more bioavailable than collagen from cattle or pigs. Because of their small molecular weight and particle size, they have a higher absorption capacity and circulate faster in the blood.

Together with collagen, elastin is a key structural component of the extracellular matrix. Although elastin makes up about 2% of the total protein in the dermis, it is physiologically important for ensuring skin elasticity.
